Upcoming propane tank price increases
Quality Steel and TriArc have notified CHS of upcoming price increases on propane tank orders. Quality Steel’s new pricing of 5% will take effect on September 11, 2026, while TriArc’s price increase of 5% will take effect on October 2, 2026.
The increase is being driven by several market factors:
- Steel mill utilization is at its highest level of the year, causing lead times to extend.
- Continued data center construction across the United States remains a primary driver of strong domestic steel demand.
- Several mills have begun discussing allocation programs, a market condition not seen since the pandemic.
- Long-term market indicators do not suggest meaningful relief in steel pricing in the foreseeable future.
To help customers secure current pricing, CHS recommends placing tank orders by August 26, 2026. Any orders shipping after September 4, 2026, will be subject to the price increase, so orders must be received by August 26, 2026, to qualify for current pricing.
In anticipation of continued demand and tightening supply conditions, CHS is also actively working to procure additional tank inventory to support customer needs and maintain product availability. However, inventory availability cannot be guaranteed, and customers with planned tank requirements are encouraged to communicate their needs as early as possible.
